Michael Byer, M.D.
Michael Byer has more than 15 years’ experience in occupational medicine. Since 2005, he has been the medical director at Coastal Occupational Medical Group, and spent eight years as a primary medical doctor. He has experience as a workplace safety consultant, pre-placement examination evaluator and a medical review officer.
Dr. Byer completed his residency at the Long Beach Veterans Administration Memorial Hospital in Long Beach. He received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, and a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Northridge.
Terry Patrick Dillon, M.D., M.P.H.
Terry Patrick Dillon is currently serving as the medical director of occupational medicine at Coastal Occupational Group. He has more than 15 years’ experience as medical director and associate medical director in multi-client, occupational health provider settings. He has also worked as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine at the University of Utah.
Dr. Dillon completed his residency in Occupational Medicine at the University of Utah and is board certified in occupational medicine from the American Board of Preventative Medicine. He received a Masters in Public Health, Occupational and Environmental Health degree from the University of Utah, a Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles.
Dr. Dillon also has four years’ experience as a U.S. Air Force flight surgeon with two years service as a flight surgeon as director of flight medicine for Tactical Air Command special projects at Tonopah Test Range, Nevada.
Thomas J. Gaughan, P.A.
Thomas J. Gaughan is the co-founder and president of Coastal Occupational Medical Group, launched in 2005. He has more than 25 years’ experience as a physician’s assistant in occupational medicine. He previously co-founded Gold Coast Medical Group in 1987, where he served as the administrative director and was partner of the occupational medical practice. Gaughan also spent two years as a community development coordinator and instructor at the USC Primary Care, Physician’s Assistant program at USC/LAC Medical Center.
Mr. Gaughan attended the Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at the University of Southern California, School of Medicine and the Los Angeles County Medical Center.
He was also a diver/medic in the U.S. Navy for four years.
Anthony Corral Romero, M.D.
Anthony Corral Romero has been a physician since 2004, working in sports medicine. He was an assistant physician for Santa Clara University soccer programs and the San Jose Cleveland Ballet. He was also an associate team physician for the Brooklyn Cyclones and New York Mets professional baseball teams. Dr. Romero practiced at the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries in New York City, where he assisted in the care of dancers from both Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theaters.
Dr. Romero is board certified in orthopedic surgery with fellowship training in sports medicine. He received subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at New York University and the Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Romero completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Stanford University Medical Center. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, and received his Master of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Stanford University.
Mike Schmidt, P. A.
Mike Schmidt has worked in occupational medicine since 1992. He retired from the Army in 1988 and is a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Schmidt graduated from Army Physician Assistant School in 1981.
James Magnusson, P.T., A.T.C.
James Magnusson has more than 20 years’ experience in physical therapy. He has been instrumental in contributing to the health and wellness of his patients, local athletes and countless industrial workers. He is co-owner of Performance Therapy Center Inc.
Mr. Magnusson is a graduate of California State University, Northridge and a licensed physical therapist. He is a certified strength trainer. He has been a member of the Oxnard College Sports Medicine Team since 1998, and is a team therapist for the Channel Islands and Hueneme High School football teams.
